Professor Mauro Pezzè appointed co-chair of assessment and search committee of the Association for Computing Machinery

Prof. Mauro Pezzè, Full Professor at the Faculty of Informatics of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), was recently appointed co-chair of the Assessment and Search (A&S) committee of the ACM publications board. The ACM - Association for Computing Machinery - is the world's largest educational and scientific computing society and provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources.

Professor Mauro Pezzè‘s term will last three years, starting 1 October 2024 and ending 30 June 2027, with the possibility of renewal. In his new role, the USI professor of informatics will be responsible for quality supervision of the more than 80 scientific journals published by the ACM, as well as for the selection and evaluation of Editors-in-Chief (EiC). In addition to this, Pezzè will also participate in the ACM's publications Board, responsible for defining the association's editorial guidelines.

The Assessment and Search committee is responsible for monitoring the quality of publications and making reccomandations to improve the quality of ACM's editorial processes and policies. In collaboration with co-chair Adelinde Uhrmacher, Pezzè will coordinate the committee's activities and take part in strategic decisions regarding ACM publications, directly influencing the future of the most relevant scientific journals in the field of computing.

This appointment is an important acknowledgement of Prof. Pezzè's outstanding contribution to the international academic community, and at the same time underlines the quality and excellence of the research conducted at Università della Svizzera italiana.
